My Canton Fair

Long time ago, I thought that I should write sth. about the canton fair, which I really did a bad job. I felt regret and guilty.
I was amitted by Global Sources two weeks before the opening of Canton Fair. My main job is to collect the foreign buyers' information outside the hall. When I was told that I could work for this great company, I really felt proud. But the thing went on a mess.
At first, we should know about the fact that because of the global financial crisis, the buyers are fewer than ever. So my job became tough. I had to collect at least 30 buyers' information, which was like a big moutain in front of me.
Oct.16th was my first day. It's also my last time as well. That morning, I went to Pazhou very early, but I found that there were a little buyers, which really depressed me. After I registed a buyers' information, a Chinese guy came straight to me. He asked whether I could speak English or not. I said yes. Then he asked whether I could find him an interpreter. I suggested him to go to the entrance of the hall, where there were a lot of students asking to be an interpreter. He left his number to me and asked me to call him if I could find one. I said ok! And I dialed my friends YY. But suddenly, I cut off. And thought that this was an opportunity for me. I should definitely seize it! I called Mr.Hu without any hesitation. I asked whether I could be his interpreter. He said ok, and asked me to join him. He gave me another one's card to help me get through in the hall. The card is a licence which allows the person to work in the hall. I was surprised that Mr.Hu was also from Chaoshan. That's to say, today my main job was to translate English into Chaoshan Dialect and translate Chaoshan Dialect into English. It's a funny trip right? And my company was Chaoan Zhixin Machinery Corporation. The company sells food packing machine. Food packing machine? Oh, my god! I was totally unfamiliar with this area! But I told Mr.Hu that I could manage it. And I really did a good job. I deal with so many customers from all over the world. From that day, I was not afraid of foreigners any more, for some of them were really poor at English, especially the Indians. Sometimes I had to ask them to write down their words. Forget it! Because I dumped Global Sources, I felt sorry for Penny. Penny called me so many times, but I just didn't answer it. It was an amazing and tough day.
When I went back to my dormitory, I asked my friends for suggetions. And I decided to call Penny and told her the trueth! It's really tough. But I had to pay back. Penny was very angry. At last, I recommended one of my friends to replace me and promised I would help her the last phase. She asked me to confirm it after the second phase.
The next day is miserable. Because when I was checking in, the security found that my card was not mine. So the head of security sequestrated my card. And Mr.Hu was sorry to tell me that he could not hire me any more and gave the salary to me. I said if he needed any help, just called me. Then I saw my friends working for Global Sources on my way back to school. The sun shined fierced, but they were all fighting for GS! I doubted about my loyalty. My being fired means the end of my first phrase of Canton Fair. I came back school to prepare my Toeic and the report.
After the second phrase, I asked Penny whether I could work for GS this phrase. Penny just replied that the number of helpers is enough. She would call me if any left. I said thank you to her. On saturday night, I thought that I could not miss this chance! And the materials were still in my dorm, so I decided to collect the buyers' information. On Sunday, the number of the buyers was sympathetic. I tried my best to persuate every buyer to stop and take a few minutes to pay attention to GS's services. I asked every foreigner whether they needed a free pen. I told the we did the retail thing at a wholesale price. That day, I ranked No.1 by getting 68 buyers' information. However, I still could not stay. Penny said I did a good job, but the quota was limit.I knew that, and I got my paid and left.
This is my Canton Fair Journey. I workde for two companies! Maybe you would like to say it's good for my resume. But I still hope I didn't dump GS. Maybe you would say I am a salary-orientation. But I have to claim that if I did a good job, the pay GS provides is much more higher than another company. So here I just want to share this experience, and suggest you thinking if you were me, what would you choose. I have some questions about my loyalty.
There still a long distance. What I did yesterday is my reputation. What I do today is my future.
